GOALS, and how to make them become reality

Do you find yourself starting over alot? We have all been there, you set a goal maybe at the beginning of the year, you start strong… then life happens. Then life happens again… And next thing you know youre completely off track and more frustrated than when you started.

If I were to ask you to take a look back at the last times this happened do you see any similar circumstances or things that trigger you to fall off?? Do you get side tracked? (Oh look….squirrel #thatsme) Do you have one road block and give up completely? How many times have you looked back and wished you had started something already? I know I have plenty of times! But this is also why I have turned into someone who is all about having a plan. A plan of action so to speak for the entire year—- the big goals, then broken down by quarter, then by month, then by week. Checking the boxes of each one keeps you accountable. I do this for all of my clients as well. Before we EVER start training we come up with a plan of action.

These practices can be applied to every part of your life. Not just with health and fitness too.

First you need to have an end date (end of year for example for the big stuff then closer in (like quarterly or monthly for sooner))

  • It keeps you focused

    • Having an ultimate end date gives you a sense of urgency knowing showing up today will matter tomorrow.

    • Knowing what you are going to have to do to get to point A to point B is going to keep you showing up.

    • Also….History tends to repeat itself

Does that quote make you think?

  • Take a minute here…..

  • What is your main goal?

  • What has caused you give up in the past? History does NOT have to repeat itself right anymore! That deadline can be the change up, the WISE thing for you to do.

Make an actual plan.

  • Like I mentioned earlier I do Plans of Action for all my clients theyre great and can be implemented in ALL areas of life. Yes they take some time but is 1-2 hours of work worth reaching what you really want in life? I think so.

    • Here is an example: Have a goal to run a half marathon.

      • Run 1 mile without stopping within 2 weeks- mini goal 1

        • Find a running plan to follow or start with running walking intervals 3 days a week then move up to 4 to 5 in week two. Each time try to run a little longer without walking.

  • So what do you need to do?

    • Stop with excuses and just do it!

    • Write it Down!

    • Make a reminder on your phone, have a picture of a half marathon medal or a running shoe near you so you can constantly be reminded.

Find someone to hold you accountable

  • This can be a group or a trainer or a friend

    • Have some coworkers join you on your workouts. Tell them your plans so they can help.

    • Have your spouse or if you are working with a trainer or coach have them offer a reward to give you if you reach x goal.

But most IMPORTANTLY’:

  • Just remember no matter what life throws at you during the process you just have to keep moving towards that end result. Life is NEVER going to be perfect. You have to want the end result, you have to be willing to get back up and know one set back, two set backs, three, four, however many set backs will NOT keep you from achieving it. Just put one foot in front of the other, and remember MIND OVER MATTER, AND GO!

YOU CAN DO IT!
